BINTULU: The Pupils Integration for Unity Plan (RIMUP) programme in primary schools across Sarawak is a vital platform to cultivate unity, harmony, and cooperation among pupils of diverse backgrounds.
Having said this, Kemena assemblyman Datuk Seri Dr Stephen Rundi Utom added the initiative not only strengthens ties between pupils, teachers, and the local community but also helps nurture a quality generation that can contribute to the state’s development.

“We need to work together, we need strong unity. Parents also play an important role in ensuring their children are well-educated, not just academically but also in discipline and character,” he said.
Rundi said this in his speech when officiating at the Harmony Inspiration with Leaders ceremony at SK Batu Tellingai, Suai, here yesterday (Aug 19).
The Food Industry, Commodity and Regional Development Minister stressed that human capital development must remain a core focus for Sarawak’s progress, with priority given to quality education and character building to ensure society does not fall behind in the country’s rapid growth.
He also highlighted Gabungan Parti Sarawak’s (GPS) initiative to waive tuition fees for entry into state-owned universities beginning in 2026, calling it a golden opportunity for Sarawakians to pursue higher education.
He explained the move would particularly benefit those keen to take up technical fields as well as Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (STEM), which offer high employability.
