SERIAN: Local MP Datuk Seri Richard Riot Jaem celebrated the spirit of Ramadan by presenting Hari Raya contributions to 84 individuals from 14 villages and 20 mosques and surau within the constituency.
He said the contribution was part of his annual initiative to share the festive spirit with the community during Ramadan.
Riot also conveyed his Ramadan greetings to the Muslim community and wished them well in observing the fasting month and celebrating Hari Raya Aidilfitri.
“Like in previous years, I am giving a small contribution so that everyone can share the joy of the upcoming Hari Raya celebration.
“It may not be much, but I hope it helps ease preparations for the festive season,” he said during the ‘Ikhlas Setulus Kasih’ aid presentation ceremony at a local hotel here today.
The recipients, comprising members of the Muslim community including representatives from mosques and surau, received cash assistance and Hari Raya cookies ahead of the upcoming celebration.
Representing the recipients, Kampung Tebakang Melayu village head Senyem Han expressed his gratitude for the assistance, saying it would help ease the burden of those in need.
“Although the amount may not be large, it means a lot to us as we prepare to celebrate Hari Raya next week,” he said.
