MIRI: Close cooperation between schools, parents and local communities is crucial in shaping quality human capital to drive Sarawak’s future development, says Lambir assemblyman Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat.

Speaking at the Minor Rural Project (MRP) handover ceremony at the Lambir service centre today (Oct 13), Ripin, who is also the Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, said the state government remains committed to strengthening this partnership through continuous financial support.

A total of RM280,000 was distributed to schools and non-governmental organisations (NGOs) within the Lambir constituency to support various community activities and student development programmes.

“This annual allocation ensures that schools and Parent-Teacher Associations (PTA) can work hand in hand to organise activities that boost students’ excellence while fostering stronger ties with parents,” he said.

Ripin stressed that these collaborative efforts not only enhance academic performance but also nurture a sense of shared responsibility between schools and the community.

Primary schools benefiting from the allocation include SK Tawakal Satap, SK Kampung Subak, SK Kampung Keluru Tengah, SK Ulu Satap, SK Kelapa Sawit No 1, SK Kelapa Sawit No 2, SK Lambir Village, SK Temenggong Datuk Muip, SK Bakam, SJK Chung Hua Bakam, SJK Tukau, SK Riam Batu 2 and SK Kampung Beraya.

Secondary recipients were SMK Luar Bandar Miri, SMK Taman Tunku, SMK Riam, SMK Agama Miri and SM Sains Miri.
