Floods getting worse in Balingian.

BALINGIAN: Though the floods are not showing any sign of receding, few schools in Balingian still operating as usual.

A teacher, Hamizah, 25, when interviewed by New Sarawak Tribune reporter said even sometimes the days were sunny, the floods still not receded.

“It is a great honour to see the spirit of pupils who are still attending school despite the floods. In schools, student dormitory has becoming the evacuation centre of flood victims,” she said.

Meanwhile, Maznie, 28, who is also a teacher, stated the Balingian was the worst place affected by floods as it was close to the river.

“Police station is becoming favourite place for the teachers to park their cars as it is situated higher from the ground,” she said, adding at her school recently, only two out of 18 pupils attended school.

26-year-old teacher, Hafiz, hoped that floods will recede as soon as possible so that the pupils can continue their studies.
