TEBEDU assemblyman, Dr Simon Sinang Bada, commended the state government for its continued efforts in safeguarding the welfare of the people.

He said this is evident as RM1 million has been approved to repair a collapsed suspension bridge in Kampung Krusen Siyu, while RM800,000 has been allocated to build an alternative road in Kampung Krusen Keranji.

He said the allocations will help restore access for residents affected by infrastructure damage following the Northeast Monsoon.

“The Northeast Monsoon, which lasted from November 13, 2025 to March this year, brought continuous rain, flooding and strong winds, causing damage to infrastructure and disrupting connectivity in several villages.

“Kampung Krusen Siyu was cut off after its suspension bridge collapsed, while a road cave-in occurred in Kampung Krusen Keranji,” he said during the debate on the motion of appreciation for the Head of State’s address at the august House today.

He added that several areas, including Kampung Tema Mawang, Kampung Tema Penggal, Kampung Tema Saan, Kampung Tubuh Behem, Kampung Tubih Sungai Ujan, Kampung Tebedu Mawang, Kampung Gahat Mawang, Kampung Daha Kisau, Kampung Daha Mawang and Kampung Sungan, were severely affected by flooding.

Simon said the state government, through the Serian Divisional Disaster Management Committee (DDMC), had provided assistance to affected residents.

“The assistance provided has helped ease the burden of disaster victims and shows that the Sarawak government continues to stay close to the people in all circumstances,” he added.
