BAU: The construction of St Joseph’s Catholic Church in Kampung Opar will be expedited with a RM1-million funding boost.
The funding was allocated by the Sarawak government through the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) for the Opar constituency.
Opar assemblyman, Billy Sujang, announced that the RM1-million allocation would help speed up the construction of the church, ensuring it becomes a more conducive place for worship and community gatherings in the future.
“I will also continue to monitor the progress of this construction and ensure adequate allocation,” he said.
He said this during a dinner held in conjunction with the church’s 34th anniversary celebration recently.
Billy also expressed excitement at the presence of nearly 300 congregants at the dinner, describing it as a symbol of unity and commitment to faith and the local community.
“Today’s celebration is not only to commemorate our history and journey of faith but also to open a brighter chapter for the church and community in Opar.
“Let us continue to strengthen our bonds and work together for the common good,” he added.
He also called on the community to remain active in church activities and support each other in order to strengthen unity in Christ.
