KUCHING: The sound of rock and blues will fill Bau this October as the Redeems Battle of the Band 2025 (BTOB 2025) returns, bringing bands nationwide to compete for the top prize of RM10,000.
Now in its third edition, the competition organised by the Singai Sarawak Research and Development Centre (Redeems), will take place at the Bidayuh Cultural Village, Redeems, in Bau.
The screening round will be held on Oct 3, followed by the grand finals on Oct 4.
Redeems president Datuk Peter Nansian Ngusie said they are targeting at least 15 bands, with 10 already confirming participation.
“So far, we have confirmed two bands from Sabah, and we hope to see more. In fact, last year’s champion also came from Sabah.”

He added that the competition welcomes participation from bands nationwide, with registration still open until Sept 5.
“BTOB 2025 returns for the third year as a dynamic platform to empower musicians of all ages, backgrounds and styles.
“This year’s event is dedicated to nurturing local talent, celebrating cultural and musical diversity, and promoting fair access to creative opportunities.
“Beyond the competition, our aim is to strengthen community connections by engaging the public, inspiring artistic growth, and uniting people through the universal language of music, especially music that conveys love and kindness,” he said during a press conference at the Borneo Tribal Village office here on Tuesday (Aug 26).
Nansian said the grand prize of RM10,000 will once again be awarded to the champion, while the second and third place winners will receive RM2,000 and RM1,000 respectively.
“This year, we hope to bring together more quality bands. At the same time, we also look forward to seeing a bigger crowd of visitors.”
He also noted that during the event, visitors can enjoy various food and beverage stalls, along with handicraft booths, and even spend the night at the Redeems’ longhouse.
