KUCHING: The Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) has allocated a total of RM110 million for the construction of houses of worship and mission schools in Sarawak this year.
UNIFOR director, Datuk Jack Aman Luat revealed that RM90 million has been allocated for religious sites while RM20 million will be used to fund mission schools.
“We have approved several projects this year and once approvals are given, we expect the projects to be completed within a year at least.
“The primary objective is to construct and refurbish places of worship, among other things,” he said.
He said this when met by reporters after attending a blood donation campaign jointly organised by UNIFOR, the Sarawak Public Communication Unit (UKAS), and the Kuching Division Journalists Association (KDJA) at Plaza Merdeka today (June 26).
Meanwhile, on the blood donation drive, Jack said it was a part of UNIFOR Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative, organised in partnership with the Sarawak General Hospital (SGH) Blood Bank and Plaza Merdeka Management Sdn Bhd.
“This is the second edition of the CSR programme where we aim to encourage more blood donations among the community to ensure adequate blood reserves for use in Sarawak,” he concluded.
