KOTA SAMARAHAN: A sum of RM12 million has been set aside for the MADANI Adopted Village (Kampung Angkat MADANI) programme, with 12 villages receiving RM1 million each, bringing tangible improvements to rural communities nationwide.
Home Minister, Datuk Seri Saifuddin Nasution Ismail, said the initiative, implemented through various Home Ministry (KDN) agencies, ensures that improvements are based on community needs and delivered without delays or abandoned works.
“This programme works because each agency selects one village and works directly with local leaders to identify what the community truly needs, and every sen goes straight to the ground,” he said.
Saifuddin said this during the handover ceremony for the MADANI Adopted Village project implemented by the Registrar of Societies (ROS) in Kampung Sindang today, noting that all villages had carried out their planned works on schedule.
In Kampung Sindang, the allocation funded drainage upgrades, improvements to a badminton court, enhancements to funeral management facilities, mosque beautification works, construction of a designated waste-collection point, and installation of a new village signboard.
Building on these efforts, Saifuddin said ROS, led by its director-general, Datuk Mohd Zulfikar Ahmad, selected Kampung Sindang as its adopted village in line with its core role of registering and supporting more than 200,000 non-governmental organisations (NGOs) across 11 categories, including social, welfare, recreational and political organisations.
“This programme is strengthened through the support of many government agencies, including the Department of Drainage and Irrigation, Public Works Department (JKR), the Prime Minister’s Department’s Implementation Coordination Unit (ICU), Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS), and the JKKK,” he added.
Saifuddin said works in Kampung Sindang were already about 80 per cent complete, with the remainder progressing on schedule, adding that the initiative also helps strengthen engagement between rural communities and KDN agencies.
