SEBANGAN: The Sarawak Government is committed to ensuring that basic utilities such as electricity, water and telecommunications continue to be strengthened to improve the quality of life for communities, especially in rural areas.

According to a report by TVS, the state has allocated RM150 million to upgrade electricity supply infrastructure in the Samarahan Division, including the Sebuyau area, ensuring a more stable supply for residents.

Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi, said the allocation was approved by the state government to increase the capacity of the electricity supply system, thereby reducing supply disruptions, particularly in rural areas.

“The initiative aligns with the Sarawak Government’s efforts to strengthen basic utility facilities to support development and public well-being.

“The Sarawak Government has approved RM150 million to upgrade electricity infrastructure in the Samarahan Division, including the Sebuyau area, to ensure a more stable electricity supply that is less prone to interruptions,” he said.

He said this while speaking at the Ramadan Visit Programme and Social Responsibility Programme organised by the Ministry of Utilities and Telecommunications Sarawak in collaboration with Sarawak Energy and the Sebuyau Service Centre at Masjid Babur Rahman today.

Meanwhile, Julaihi also said that the increasing use of electricity in rural areas currently requires infrastructure improvements so that the supply can be delivered more efficiently.

“The growing use of electrical appliances at home, including kitchen appliances, air conditioners, and digital facilities, also contributes to the rising demand for electricity,” he said.
