MUKAH: RM1 million has been allocated for the upgrading of 26 SeDidik premises throughout Sarawak.

Eight of these premises are in Kuching, seven in Sibu, five in Miri and three in Mukah and Bintulu respectively. All will be upgraded by December this year.

“By 2020, there will no longer be any premises classified as obsolete,” said Welfare, Community Wellbeing, Women, Family and Childhood Development Minister Datuk Seri Fatimah Abdullah.

“This is the state government’s effort to ensure that children in the state have a safe environment when receiving early childhood education,” she said during the Gawai Raya Dinner 2019 at a hotel on Friday night.

Fatimah explained that by 2021, all SeDidik teachers must at least have a Diploma in Early Childhood Education.

“RM16 million is also allocated to 73 kindergartens and 18 nurseries to be distributed equally to instil healthy eating habits, promote a conducive learning environment, and many more,” she said.
