SIBU: Golf clubs across Sarawak stand a chance to win six ‘hole-in-one’ prizes worth a total of RM2.6 million at the Rimbunan Hijau (RH) Group’s Golden Jubilee Golf Tournament.
Organising chairman Datuk Thomas Tieng Mee Tung said the prizes include a Toyota Camry 2.5 HEV, two excavators, a backhoe, and two tractors.
“I was told that this is the most valuable ‘hole-in-one’ prize pool ever offered in a golf tournament in Malaysia,” he said at a press conference today (Mar 12).
He said however, professional golfers are not eligible to participate as they do not qualify for any ‘hole-in-one’ prizes.
“In addition to the main prizes, there will be other rewards for different categories, including the senior and women’s divisions.
“Each category will have around 15 prizes, so participants will have a clear idea of what they stand to win,” he explained.
The two-day tournament, scheduled for May 10 and 12, is limited to 144 participants per day.
“We expect more than 144 registrations, but we can only accommodate a maximum of 144 players for the open category on May 10.
“On May 12, we will host invited guests and VIPs, with the same participant limit. Golf buggies will be available on a first-come, first-served basis,” he added.
Registration opens on Mar 15, with invitations sent to golf clubs to encourage participation.
At the press conference, a sponsorship handover ceremony was held, officiated by RH group’s managing director Datuk Tiong Thai King.
