DARO: A 17-kilometre road will soon be constructed to connect Kampung Penasu, seven longhouses in the Nanga Semah and Nanga Serban areas, as well as Sekolah Kebangsaan Batang Lassa, to the main Tanjung Manis–Sibu road.

According to Daro assemblyman, Safiee Ahmad, the government has allocated RM250 million for the project, and a consultant has already been appointed.
“This road will have a significant impact on local residents, who have long relied on river routes and plantation roads as their main access in and out of the area,” he said in his speech at the Majlis Berambeh Raya 2025 held at the Kampung Penasu Community Hall yesterday.
He added that the implementation of this project would complete the entire road network in the Daro area, ultimately opening up greater access between villages, longhouses, and town centres.
“When this road is completed, it will become a vital link that completes the land transport network across the Daro area – easing movement, accelerating development, and unlocking new economic opportunities for the people,” he said.
Meanwhile, speaking about the event, Safiee said that it not only strengthened ties between leaders and the people, but also reinforced the spirit of unity and cooperation that underpins the harmony of the community in the area.
