KUCHING: A total of 67 recipients, including Rukun Tetangga Areas (KRT), associations, agencies, and educational institutions within the DUN N.4 Pantai Damai constituency, received an allocation of RM282,000 in a grant distribution ceremony held at the Pantai Damai Service Centre.

The event was officiated by Deputy Minister for Telecommunication and Utility, Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Junaidi, who noted the Sarawak government’s commitment to fostering community growth through various social and economic development initiatives.

“This financial assistance reflects our commitment to empowering non- government organisations (NGOs), entrepreneurship centers, and educational institutions that play a crucial role in community development,” he stated.

He said this during his speech at the Education and Activity Fund distribution at Pantai Damai Constituency Service Centre on Tuesday (Feb 4).

Dr Abdul Rahman also highlighted the significance of public participation in the development of the state, particularly in education and entrepreneurship.

“We aim to encourage greater involvement from the younger generation in these initiatives. By doing so, they can better understand and appreciate the importance of leadership in shaping Sarawak’s future,” he added.

The funding provided will be used to support various community-based programmes, including skill development workshops, educational initiatives and welfare activities to enhance the quality of life for local residents.

He reiterated that such allocations are essential in strengthening the social fabric of the community, ensuring inclusivity and fostering sustainable growth.

The event saw the presence of local community leaders, NGO representatives and beneficiaries who expressed their appreciation for the support extended to their organisations.

“Many acknowledged that the financial aid would help sustain and expand their ongoing initiatives, ultimately benefiting the broader community,” he added.

“The state government remains committed to working closely with local organisations to ensure effective implementation of these programs,” he said.

Future initiatives will continue to focus on community empowerment, economic sustainability, and youth engagement, in line with Sarawak’s vision for long-term development.
