SEMATAN: In a continued effort to support the Muslim community, Tanjong Datu assemblyman (ADUN) Azizul Annuar Adenan and his family have once again extended financial assistance to 41 mosques and surau in his constituency ahead of the upcoming holy month of Ramadan.

A total of RM28,800 was distributed during a handover ceremony at Masjid Noorul Islam, Sematan, on Tuesday evening (Feb 25), with Azizul personally presenting the contributions to representatives from the mosques and surau.

Azizul said the programme is an annual initiative by him and his family to reach out to the Muslim community in the Tanjong Datu constituency.

Azizul also highlighted that Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof have allocated RM1.5 million and RM1 million respectively for the repair and upgrading of mosques and surau in Tanjong Datu.

He expressed hope that the funds would be utilised soon to enhance the infrastructure and facilities of these places of worship.

Also present at the event was Lundu District Officer Awang Yusup Awang Mostapha.
