MERADONG: A total of RM3,000 has been allocated through the Minor Rural Project (MRP) to strengthen early childhood education and support plans to upgrade ageing KEMAS preschools in this constituency.
Meradong assemblyman Datuk Ding Kuong Hiing said that preschool education is a critical foundation in shaping a quality generation and should not be overlooked in the development agenda.
“Investment in early education has a long-term impact on human capital development and is a key determinant of the quality of future generations,” he said when officiating at the 2026 KEMAS Sarikei Preschool Unit Meet-and-Greet Ceremony held here on Saturday.
He also stressed the need to upgrade dilapidated KEMAS preschool facilities through an application under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) for the Meradong constituency in 2027.
He added that active involvement from parents and the community is crucial to ensure the effectiveness of early education programmes.
He further called on all parties to continue supporting efforts through contributions, manpower, and ideas to strengthen early childhood education development.
