KAPIT: The Kapit branch of the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) has received a boost in the form of a RM30,000 Minor Rural Project (MRP) allocation from the state government.

Deputy Minister in the Premier’s Department (Law and Native Customs), Datuk Jefferson Jamit Unyat, approved the funding to help the association purchase equipment for use at Wisma Veteran ATM Kapit.

He said the contribution reflected the government’s ongoing commitment to supporting the welfare of ex-servicemen and strengthening the association’s role in caring for those who have served the nation.

“This association must continue to serve and assist other veterans, not just in welfare matters, but also by giving back to society and the country,” he said in his speech during a casual tea session with the Kapit PVATM at Wisma Veteran ATM last Wednesday.

Jefferson further highlighted that the association not only acts as a platform to safeguard the rights and welfare of veterans but also has the potential to become an active social movement through various community-centred programmes.

He noted that Kapit plays an important role as a liaison between ex-servicemen and the government, especially in the delivery of aid and advocating for their welfare.

The deputy minister also expressed his appreciation to members of the association for their continued commitment and encouraged more former ATM members in Kapit to register and participate actively in the association’s activities.
