LIMBANG: The RM300 million Limbang Major Specialist Hospital project is slated for completion within the next five years, promising to elevate healthcare standards in the constituency.

Food Industry, Commodity, and Regional Development Deputy Minister Datuk Dr Abdul Rahman Ismail said the Sarawak government has approved the project, which will feature 20 specialist fields in line with its designation as a major specialist hospital.

“The construction cost is estimated at RM300 million, and work has already commenced. This initiative has been in the planning stages for some time and is expected to be ready by 2030,” he said.

Dr Abdul Rahman thanked the Ministry of Health (MoH) for green-lighting the long-awaited project, which meets a critical need for the people of Limbang.

He said this during the Limbang Life Care Society’s ambulance launch at Kampung Bunga Raya here on Monday (Dec 2).

The Bukit Kota assemblyman commended the Limbang Life Care Society for contributing an additional ambulance to the district, emphasising its vital role in providing welfare services to the community regardless of race or religion.

To bolster the organisation’s initiatives, Dr Abdul Rahman announced a RM25,000 allocation to enhance its ongoing community services.

Also present were Limbang Hospital director Dr Nurain Yahya, Limbang District Officer’s representative Hadiana Simatzaman, and the organisation’s chairman Ling Ung Tong.
