Of the total, Opar accounts for 180 projects valued at RM150 million, while Tanjong Datu comprises 38 projects worth RM154.8 million.

Among the high-impact initiatives is the installation of street lighting along the coastal road in Tanjong Datu, valued at RM12.6 million, which is currently ahead of schedule.

In addition, the upgrading of Lundu Town Square, valued at over RM2 million and nearing completion, is expected to become a new focal point for the community while stimulating local economic activity.

Also highlighted were the construction of multipurpose halls in Kampung Sembawang and Kampung Pasir Tengah, as well as the Kampung Sebako 2 Bridge project worth RM6.15 million which is set to enhance connectivity and support economic activities, particularly in the agricultural sector.

Abdul Rahman stressed that the implementation of projects under GKCDA aims to strengthen connectivity and improve the socio-economic standing of local communities.

He added that all projects under regional development agencies are targeted for completion before 2029, in line with Sarawak’s development aspirations leading up to 2030.

Meanwhile, Azizul conveyed his gratitude for the establishment of the GKCDA which he noted has successfully expedited rural development initiatives.

He said the balanced allocation approach has enabled many projects to be implemented on a fast-track basis, delivering tangible benefits to the people.

In addition, Billy emphasised that the Kampung Sebako 2 Bridge project is a crucial initiative that will have a significant impact on several surrounding villages, especially in improving access to agricultural areas and facilitating the movement of produce.
