LUNDU: A total of RM4.05 million has been allocated to build new multipurpose halls in nine villages within the Opar constituency.
Assemblyman Billy Sujang said that the construction of these halls is not only important for providing physical facilities, but also plays a key role in strengthening unity and enhancing community well-being.
He expressed hope that the project would act as a catalyst for social and economic growth at the grassroots level, in line with the Sarawak Government’s goal of ensuring balanced development between urban and rural areas.
“This multipurpose hall is not just a building; it is an important space for people to gather, carry out community activities, host official ceremonies, hold multicultural meetings, and run youth programmes,” he said.
He said this during a recent site visit and handover ceremony for the project.
Billy also expressed his appreciation for the commitment of the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA) and the Sarawak Public Works Department (PWD) in advancing the inclusive rural development agenda.
Each of the nine villages involved in this initiative has been allocated RM450,000 for the development of new multipurpose halls.
The selected villages – Kampung Stum Muda, Kampung Bagak, Kampung Sebigo Dayak, Kampung Pasir Hilir, Kampung Pasir Tengah, Kampung Serayan Hulu, Kampung Sebako 1, Kampung Temaga Cina, and Kampung Sedemak – are set to benefit from this GKCDA initiative.
