SARAWAK will allocate RM48.5 million in 2026 for training and talent development programmes within the state civil service.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg said the allocation will support initiatives aimed at enhancing the skills and competencies of civil servants.
“These include technical skills development to strengthen specialised functional areas and in-service training to enable officers to pursue formal studies and professional qualifications.
“They also cover leadership and executive development programmes for senior and emerging leaders to build strategic thinking, leadership capability, and high-level management skills,” he said when tabling the 2026 State Budget on Monday.
In line with the federal government’s decision to implement the Sistem Saraan Perkhidmatan Awam (SSPA), he added that the state adopted the new pay structure last year.
“The first eight per cent salary increase took effect earlier this year, involving RM67 million, while a further seven per cent increase will be implemented in 2026 with an allocation of RM56 million,” he added.
He also said that the state will provide RM1.26 million to support programmes that improve overall well-being and work–life balance, as well as studies to guide future policies such as hybrid work arrangements, special needs support, and back-to-work initiatives.
Besides, the government will allocate RM300 million in 2026 for the construction of new housing and related facilities across various districts.
“Recognising the critical role of civil servants in delivering public services, we will continue our effort to improve access to quality housing.
“This initiative reflects our dedication to improving living standards and strengthening institutional support for those who serve the State,” he said.
