KUCHING: The Padawan District police’s Commercial Crime Investigation Division has received five reports of QR code payment fraud, with total losses amounting to RM4,904.99.

The cases occurred between February 21 and March 1, 2025, at two different supermarkets.

Padawan District police chief, Supt Mohd Irwan Hafiz Md Radzi, said that the syndicate behind the scam operated by using QR code payments, with three to four suspects entering targeted premises to carry out the fraud.

The cases are being investigated under Section 420 of the Penal Code for cheating.

Police urge members of the public with any information regarding the suspects to come forward.
