KUCHING: Pride, silverware and RM50,000 in prize money will be on the line when Bintulu FA and Samarahan FA clash in the Sarawak Premier Cup 2025 final at Stadium Negeri Sarawak on Feb 15, with kick-off set for 3 pm.
The champions will walk away with RM50,000 along with the championship trophy, medals and certificates, while the runners-up will receive RM30,000.
Sarawak Football Association president Datuk Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said the Premier Cup final marks the culmination of the league’s first edition, which began in September last year as part of efforts to strengthen football development in Sarawak.
“This is our first step in rebuilding football development in Sarawak. We have to start somewhere, and this league is our starting point”, he said during a press conference here today (Feb 10).
He also assured that the competition would be improved from season to season.
The Sarawak Premier League featured teams split into two zones, with the top four from each zone advancing to the Premier Cup, producing an eight-team knockout stage that led to the final showdown.
Fazzrudin also stressed that the league was structured to prioritise local talent, with teams required to field players originating from their respective divisions.
“The most important thing is that all divisions are involved and players from every part of Sarawak are given a chance,” he added.
Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg is also expected to be present at the match.
The final will officially draw the curtain on the Sarawak Premier League 2025 season, with both Bintulu FA and Samarahan FA aiming to crown their campaigns with a statement victory.
