BALAI RINGIN: The Sarawak government has approved an allocation of RM55 million to upgrade the town of Balai Ringin, as part of a broader initiative to strengthen infrastructure and boost economic development in rural areas.
Speaking during Balai Ringin Gawai Dayak Arts and Culture Day, organised by the Malaysian Armed Forces Veterans Association (PVATM) Balai Ringin branch, Deputy Minister of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Datuk Snowdan Lawan said the project’s tender is expected to open by the end of this year, marking a significant milestone in Balai Ringin’s growing development.
Snowdan, who is also Balai Ringin assemblyman, expressed strong support for initiatives that preserve and celebrate the Dayak community’s cultural heritage.
“I have high hopes that this legacy will continue so that our traditions and culture are not lost to time. This event should become a signature annual celebration in Balai Ringin,” he said.
In other developments, he also announced that the next edition of the Gawai Dayak Arts and Culture Day will be held at the Balai Ringin Mini Stadium, which is in the final stages of construction and is scheduled to be completed and officially launched on Jun 28.
