SIBU: The General Operations Force (GOF) seized contraband cigarettes, fireworks, dangerous weapons and imitation firearms worth RM6,297,990 during a raid at a residence here last Wednesday (May 21).

Deputy Commander of the Sarawak Brigade GOF, ACP Rosdi Inai, said the operation was conducted by the Intelligence Branch of the 10th Battalion GOF Sibu at around 10:30 am.

“A 44-year-old local man was arrested during the raid,” he said in a statement today.

Items seized included 7,600 cartons of white cigarettes, 6,788 cartons of kretek, 435 boxes of fireworks, two imitation firearms, nine weapons, and a four-wheel drive vehicle.

Rosdi said the case has been handed over to the Sibu District Police for further action.

Investigations are ongoing under Section 135(1)(d) of the Customs Act 1967, Section 8 of the Explosives Act 1957, Section 7(1) of the Corrosive and Explosive Substances and Offensive Weapons Act, and Section 36(1) of the Arms Act 1960.
