KUCHING: Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) has received a contribution of RM7,000 to support the development of aquatic sports programmes throughout this year.
The contribution was made by Senator Datuk Ahmad Ibrahim, Patron of PASC, to assist with the implementation of several key initiatives, including the 2nd Inter-Club Swimming Competition (May 10-12), the 5th Sarawak Sprint (Aug 15-17), and the 4th Kuching Invitational Water Polo Cup (Nov 22-25).
“I also urge more private sector players, corporations, and members of the public to step forward as strategic partners in developing aquatic sports in Sarawak, as future success requires collective support,” he said.
The 8th PASC Inter-Primary School Swimming Competition 2025, held at the Pandelela Rinong Aquatic Centre on Sunday (Apr 27), ended on a high note, with more than 265 young swimmers from 34 primary schools across Sarawak taking part.
Ahmad, who officiated at the closing ceremony, commended the outstanding efforts of the organisers, participants, coaches, and parents in making the event a resounding success.
In his address, he said the competition was not merely about winning medals, but more importantly, about nurturing sportsmanship, resilience, teamwork, and discipline among Sarawak’s young athletes.
“It is in these small pools, in competitions such as this, that dreams are born and champions are nurtured.
“A world-class athlete does not emerge overnight — it starts with perseverance, courage, and community support,” he said.
PASC, under the leadership of president Kapitan Tan Kun Gee and organising chairman Voon Yong Hui, continues to drive the development of swimming and water polo at the grassroots level across Sarawak.
