PADAWAN: St Paul’s Church Bunuk raised RM7,720 through song sponsorships during its Blessed Ticket Draw 2026 fundraising event yesterday (Aug 29) to support construction of its new church building.

The event was held at Dewan Serbaguna Kampung Bratan/Asah, Batu 16, Jalan Puncak Borneo, as the church continues efforts to raise funds for the project.

Anglican Diocese of Kuching Bishop Datuk Danald Jute, who officiated the event, said the church could not depend entirely on grants from the Unit for Other Religions (UNIFOR) to finance construction.

He said parishioners had to play an active role in funding the project as the church belonged to the community.

“It is our church, and we ourselves must contribute to build the church,” he said.

The fundraising event was attended by Puncak Borneo MP Datuk Willie Mongin, who also supported the initiative by sponsoring the grand prize, a Perodua Bezza 1.0 Automatic.

He said the message is a reminder of the collective responsibility of the parish community to contribute towards the development of the new church.

The fundraising initiative received encouraging support from parishioners, supporters and well-wishers, with proceeds coming from both Blessed Ticket sales and song sponsorships.

The church said the support reflected the community’s generosity, commitment and unity towards providing a new place of worship and fellowship for future generations.

St Paul’s Church Bunuk also expressed appreciation to all song sponsors, Blessed Ticket purchasers, donors, volunteers and supporters who contributed to the success of the fundraising event.
