BINTANGOR: The Sarawak government has approved an allocation of RM80 million for the construction of the R3 Road, which will link Kampung Muara Lebaan to the main Sibu-Tanjung Manis Road near Sungai Lengan, said Safiee Ahmad.

The Daro assemblyman said that the 5.56-kilometre stretch, described as a crucial “missing link”, is currently undergoing tender evaluation, alongside land surveying and acquisition processes managed by the Land and Survey Department to ensure fair compensation is provided to affected landowners.
“If all goes according to plan, construction works are expected to commence soon,” he said when speaking at a Hari Raya Aidilfitri gathering at Kampung Muara Lebaan today.
The proposed road will also include a junction leading to the village cemetery and nearby farmland, which will benefit the local community.
Safiee noted that although the road is relatively short in length, the project poses significant challenges, particularly due to the swampy terrain which will require land rehabilitation.
He expressed appreciation to Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg for approving the project, which he said would bring significant socioeconomic benefits to residents in the area.
“This reflects the Premier’s continued concern for the needs of rural communities,” he added.
He also urged locals to take advantage of the government’s development initiatives to improve their economic well-being.
“The government remains committed to developing rural areas, including in the Daro constituency, through various infrastructure projects.
“I hope residents will continue to build self-awareness and strive for personal development to keep pace with progress,” he said.
At the event, Safiee also presented a total of RM23,000 allocation to several local organisations, including the Village Development and Security Committee (JKKK) of Kampung Muara Lebaan, Surau Darul Abidin Management Committee, JKKK of Kampung Sabena, and Masjid Ar-Rahman Management Committee.
