KUALA LUMPUR: Foreign investors extended their selling streak on Bursa Malaysia for the 20th straight week, recording a net outflow of RM881.5 million, down from RM1.27 billion the previous week.

MIDF Amanah Investment Bank Bhd said Friday saw the heaviest outflow at RM310 million, while daily outflows ranged from RM68.1 million to RM189.4 million.

Meanwhile, local institutions remained net buyers for the 20th week, pumping RM617.3 million into domestic equities, though lower than RM817.4 million previously. Retail investors also net bought for the fourth consecutive week at RM264.2 million, down from RM447.9 million.

Foreign inflows were strongest in technology (RM40 million), telecommunications and media (RM26.2 million), and plantation (RM10.1 million), while financial services (-RM407 million), consumer products (-RM215.1 million), and utilities (-RM167.1 million) saw the highest outflows.

Across Asia, foreign investors net sold US$8.17 billion, with the Philippines as the only market recording inflows. – BERNAMA
