KUCHING: A total of RM900,000 has been allocated for vital healthcare infrastructure upgrades in Kota Sentosa, which include the construction of a new medical laboratory at the Kota Sentosa Health Clinic, and various improvements at the Sentosa Psychiatric Hospital.
Kota Sentosa state assemblyman, Wilfred Yap Sau Sin, visited both the Kota Sentosa Health Clinic and the Sentosa Psychiatric Hospital today to review ongoing infrastructure improvements aimed at enhancing healthcare services within his constituency.
At the Kota Sentosa Health Clinic, Yap met with officers from the Public Works Department (JKR), the implementing agency for the project, to discuss the construction of the new medical laboratory.
Funded by Yap’s approved Rural Transformation Project (RTP) allocation of RM500,000, the laboratory will significantly boost the clinic’s diagnostic capabilities, offering faster and more efficient medical services to the local community while strengthening the region’s healthcare infrastructure.
Yap then proceeded to the Sentosa Psychiatric Hospital to oversee the progress of several ongoing upgrades, including improvements to the car park and renovations to the occupational therapy and multipurpose hall.
Funded through an RTP allocation of RM400,000 and managed by the Padawan Municipal Council (MPP), these upgrades are set to provide enhanced facilities for mental health patients and healthcare providers, creating a more supportive environment for rehabilitation and therapy while enhancing mental health services in the region.
In a statement, Yap expressed his commitment towards addressing the long-standing shortcomings of healthcare facilities in Kota Sentosa, which have historically lagged behind other constituencies.
He said that healthcare is a fundamental right, and pledged to continue improving medical facilities in the area through RTP funding and diligent project oversight.
Yap further assured his constituents that he would continue to prioritise the development of healthcare infrastructure to meet the growing needs of Kota Sentosa.
