KUCHING: Two roads around Padang Merdeka will be closed and traffic diverted to facilitate preparations for the state-level Maulidur Rasul 2025 gathering and procession on Sept 6.
The affected roads are Jalan Tun Abang Haji Openg towards Jalan McDougall, and Jalan McDougall to Padang Merdeka.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the closure period will begin at 10am on Aug 27 and will end at 5pm on Sept 8, for site preparations and tent installation at the main stage.
“The event, scheduled to start at 6.30am at Padang Merdeka on Sept 6, will require early preparations and safety measures.
“The closures and diversions are necessary to ensure smooth preparations and traffic flow during the celebration.”
In light of this, members of the public are advised to plan their journeys, use alternative routes and avoid parking by the roadside in the affected areas to ease traffic congestion.
