KUCHING: Several roads in the city will be temporarily closed from Oct 24 to Nov 2 in conjunction with the Sarawak Regatta and Kuching Waterfront Festival 2025.
Kuching police chief ACP Alexson Naga Chabu said the closures and diversions are necessary to ensure smooth traffic flow and public safety throughout the duration of the festival.
He said the affected routes will be closed in stages, beginning with the opening ceremony on Oct 24 (7am to 6pm) and continuing until the closing ceremony on Nov 2 (7am to 6pm).
Among the roads involved are Jalan Gambier, Jalan Main Bazaar, Lebuh Wayang, Lebuh Temple, the St Mary traffic light junction leading to Lebuh Wayang, as well as the Jalan Pearl and Jalan Wawasan stretch.
In light of this, Alexson reminded the public not to park their vehicles along the affected areas, plan their journeys early and use alternative routes throughout the event period to ensure smoother traffic flow.
