BAU: A road upgrading and new construction project linking Kampung Segubang to Kampung Kopit here has officially begun.
Minister of Education, Innovation and Talent Development Datuk Seri Roland Sagah Wee Inn said the project, overseen by the Greater Kuching Coordinated Development Agency (GKCDA), stands as a testament to the Sarawak government’s commitment to strengthening basic infrastructure in rural areas.
He reaffirmed the Sarawak government’s dedication through GKCDA, to address the needs of rural communities and ensure they are not left behind in the state’s development agenda.
“This initiative is part of the government’s broader strategy to balance development between urban and rural areas, ultimately aiming to improve the quality of life for all,” said Sagah, who is also GKCDA chairman during the symbolic groundbreaking ceremony for the project held recently.
Meanwhile, Serembu assemblyman Miro Simuh said that the project, with an allocation of RM2 million, is expected to bring significant benefits to local residents.
“This development will not only help ease traffic that currently passes through the heart of Kampung Kopit, but also open up new opportunities for agriculture and residential development,” said Miro.
He added that the road will also serve as a catalyst for local economic activities and improve connectivity for rural communities to nearby areas.
