KUCHING: Several roads in the city will be closed in conjunction with the Kuching International Cat Festival 2025 at Kuching Waterfront from Sept 26 to 28, including for a rehearsal and the main event at Kuching Waterfront.
Kuching District Police Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Division chief DSP Victor Ripon said the affected roads are Jalan Gambier (partial closure), Jalan Main Bazaar, Jalan Courthouse, and Jalan Tunku Abdul Rahman.
He said the closures will take place during the rehearsal on Sept 25 from 7pm to 9pm, and again on Sept 27 from 6am until the event concludes.
“Previously, in the media statement issued through the Kuching District Police (Polis Daerah Kuching) Facebook page dated Sept 19, there was no mention of road closures on Sept 25.
“Therefore, I would like to add that road closures will also be implemented for the rehearsal on Sept 25 from 7pm to 9pm.”
He was speaking at the Kuching International Cat Festival 2025 press conference on Monday (Sept 22).
Meanwhile, Kuching North City Commission (DBKU) director Ramzi Abdillah said the detailed information on road closures would allow the public to make necessary arrangements.
“We hope that road users will take the appropriate actions to avoid severe congestion in the area.”
