KUALA LUMPUR: Tourism Malaysia, together with the Association of Sarawak Inbound Agencies (ASIA), Sarawak Tourism Board and Business Events Sarawak, has launched the Sarawak Delta Geopark Package Vol. 2 during the Jom Ke Sarawak Roadshow.

According to a statement, the roadshow is an initiative aimed at strengthening Sarawak’s position as a leading Meetings, Incentives, Conventions and Exhibitions (MICE) destination.

The roadshow, which brought together 22 representatives from Sarawak’s tourism industry, featured a dedicated business-to-business (B2B) session connecting tourism players from Sarawak and the central region.

The newly launched Sarawak Delta Geopark Package Vol. 2 showcases 42 thematic itineraries crafted by 13 tour operators, highlighting the Geopark’s distinctive geological formations, diverse biodiversity, adventure tourism, cultural heritage and gastronomy.

The package is expected to serve as a key promotional tool as Sarawak pursues UNESCO Global Geopark status in 2026.

Tourism Malaysia said the initiative is part of a strategic partnership with the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry and Performing Arts Sarawak, aligned with the Visit Malaysia 2026 (VM2026) agenda to promote sustainable and cultural tourism.

Among the destinations featured in the itineraries are the Sarawak Cultural Village and Bako National Park in Kuching; Wind and Fairy Cave Nature Reserve and Paku Rock Maze in Bau; as well as Annah Rais Homestay and Semadang River Kayak in Padawan.

The launch was attended by senior officials, including deputy director General (Promotions II) of Tourism Malaysia Samuel Lee Thai Hung, ASIA chairman Philip Yong, Sarawak Forestry Department’s Geopark Management Unit head Madeline George Pau, Sarawak Tourism Board acting director of Marketing (Domestic and ASEAN) Gustino Basuan, and Business Events Sarawak manager of Business Development Gloria Pahang.

Tourism Malaysia said the initiative supports national efforts to position Sarawak as both a MICE hub and a sustainable cultural tourism destination, thus strengthening Malaysia’s international visibility.

For the record, Malaysia recorded 28.24 million tourist arrivals between January and August 2025, representing a 14.5 per cent increase from the same period last year.

Sarawak registered 3.59 million visitors between January and September 2025, reflecting strong demand for the state’s tourism offerings.
