ROBAN: The “Sambas Style” boat racing event will be a new attraction at the Roban Food Festival (RFF), scheduled for Dec 13 to 15.

Kalaka assemblyman Mohamad Duri announced this, noting that it will be one of the new additions to the festival and the first time such an event has been held in the Roban Sub-District.

“The dates for RFF 2024 have been finalised, starting from Nov 30 until Dec 15.

“However, the culminating event from Dec 13 to 15 will certainly be more lively with the ‘Sambas Style’ boat race, which is being introduced for the first time and will last three days,” he said.

Mohamad shared this information after the RFF Committee Meeting No. 4/2024, chaired by Roban Sub-District administrative officer Steve Miller Nuas, yesterday.

The RFF was initially scheduled for September but had to be postponed.

“Alhamdulillah, today we have finalised the new dates, and the festival, which has become an iconic event in the Roban Sub-District, will still be filled with various exciting attractions.

“A total of 11 main attractions were discussed for implementation, and no changes have been made.

“We hope this year’s event will be even more exciting and lively,” he added.

Mohamad also noted that the replica of the Iban community’s longhouse remains a key attraction of this year’s festival.

Krian assemblyman Friday Belik was also present.
