KUCHING: The retail prices of RON97, unsubsidised RON95 and unsubsidised diesel will rise by 35 sen per litre from Sept 17 to 23, the finance ministry said today (Sept 16).

RON97 will cost RM4.85 per litre, up from RM4.50, while unsubsidised RON95 will increase to RM4.37 from RM4.02.

Unsubsidised diesel will rise to RM5.27 per litre from RM4.92.

Subsidised prices remain unchanged at RM1.99 per litre for RON95 under BUDI Madani RON95 and RM2.10 per litre for diesel under BUDI Madani Diesel.

The ministry said the increase followed a sharp rise in global petroleum prices amid escalating conflict in West Asia.

Disruptions to shipping through the Strait of Hormuz and attacks on energy infrastructure in Saudi Arabia pushed Brent crude above US$100 a barrel, reaching nearly US$110 during the Automatic Pricing Mechanism calculation period.

The government said targeted subsidies would remain in place for eligible consumers while it continued to monitor global price volatility and domestic fuel supply.
