BEKENU: People residing near rivers and low-lying areas here are advised to be prepared, especially in terms of security, to face any possiblity of floods due to the inclement weather at the moment.
Bekenu State Assemblywomen Rosey Yunus said the relevant authorities were now poised to face floods, including monitoring water levels of river and sitaution at flood-prone areas, especially villages situated near rivers.
Among the flood prones area here are Kampung Tiris, Kampung Bulau, Kampung Menjelin and Saeh.
Therefore, Rosey sought the cooperation of the headmen to report immediately in the event of floods and to ensure the trenches and drains in their respective areas were not blocked to prevent worsening flood situation.
