KUCHING: The new face fielded by Gabungan Parti Sarawak (GPS) for Lubok Antu parliamentary seat has successfully defeated three other contenders after garnering 6,644 votes.

Greenhorn Roy Angau Gingkoi expressed his thanks to the people of the constituency for giving the mandate to GPS.

“The victory has given the opportunity to GPS to wrest back the seat that previously belonged to the party,” he said.

He said this when met by reporters at the Borneo Convention Centre here tonight.

When asked what his next plan was upon winning, he stated that he would first focus on the infrastructure of the parliamentary constituency.

“We will try to follow up with the infrastructure here as there are many cancelled projects in the constituency.

“I believe this victory given by the rakyat to me is due to their need to have changes for the better in the area,” he said.
