BETONG: The newly upgraded Mid Layar Rest and Relaxation Commercial Centre (RRCC) here is now open to public.

This renovation has made the RRCC even better, offering more services to road users on the Pan Borneo Highway.

Now, there are nine food and beverage shops and five retail shops, along with other amenities at the centre.

The reopening ceremony was officiated by Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu recently.

Rentap, who also Layar assemblyman, said that the centre has been chosen as one of the stops for the upcoming Kembara Borneo Dirgahayu Tuanku programme by the Yang di-Pertuan Agong Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri’ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah and Raja Permaisuri Agong Tunku Azizah Aminah Maimunah Iskandariah, and it’s set to take place on September 12.

“This is a huge honour for the Layar constituency,” said Rentap.

“I hope the people here will showcase Layar and Betong in the best light.”

Rentap also stressed how important facilities like dining spots, restrooms, prayer rooms, and stores are for travellers using the Pan Borneo Highway.

He thanked the Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) for the upgrading of RRCC Mid Layar.

Also present were SEDC general manager Datuk Abdul Hadi Abdul Kadir, Betong Division Resident Richard Michael Abunawas, and SEDC Entrepreneur and Community Development Division director Nikk Adam Abdillah Kipalli.
