KUCHING: The Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) has identified several “hot spot” locations for illegal racing activities around Kuching City.

Sarawak RTD director Norizan Jili said operations to curb the proliferation of such illegal activities in the state will be conducted in collaboration with the Sarawak Royal Malaysia Police (PDRM).

“A meeting with PDRM will be held for this purpose. In fact, PDRM has always been monitoring such activities in Sarawak. God willing, we will conduct operations to combat these activities,” he said.

He said this to reporters during the ‘Op Khas Motosikal’ here last night (Dec 13). Also present was RTD senior director Muhammad Kifli Hassan.

According to Norizan, a total of 19,388 summonses were issued during this year’s Motorcycle Ops, with the most common offense being driving without a license.

As a result, he urged all road users to obtain a license for their safety and the safety of others on the road.

“We also have the MyLesen B2 Motorcycle Assistance Programme to help the B40 group who are less privileged.

“This programme indirectly produces competent motorcyclists who are aware of road safety laws, thereby reducing the number of motorcycle accidents,” he said.
