SIBU: The Road Transport Department (RTD) issued 19 non-compliance notices to commercial vehicle drivers during an operation codenamed ‘Op Khas Gempur Teknikal’ yesterday (Feb 18).

According to Sarawak RTD, the operation was carried out by its Sibu Operation Unit across the town.

the team inspected a total of 177 commercial vehicles and issued 19 notices against drivers and vehicle owners for various offenses.

Among them were driving without a licence, expired road tax, expired driving licence, failure to possess goods driving licence (GDL), and other technical offences.

Such operation will continue periodically to monitor, detect and take action against drivers and owners of commercial vehicles, who fail to comply and commit offenses under the Road Transport Act 1987 and the Rules thereunder; the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1987; and the Land Public Transport Act 2010.

The department reminded all road users to adhere to traffic laws and prioritise road safety.
