KUCHING: A total of 209 notices were issued by the Sarawak Road Transport Department (RTD) during Ops Pengarah here recently.
Sarawak RTD said the operation was held simultaneously at Jalan Batu 5, Serian-Kuching and Jalan Batu 5, Kuching-Serian, and was led by its deputy director Nor Azlan Ibrahim, involving 50 enforcement personnel.

The department said the operation aimed to monitor, detect, and take action against drivers, riders and vehicle owners who failed to comply with the Road Transport Act 1987 (Act 333), its regulations, and the Commercial Vehicles Licensing Board Act 1987 (Act 334).

“Of the total, 209 notices were issued for various offences including driving without a licence, expired driving licences and road tax, no insurance coverage, and several technical violations,” it said in a statement today (May 24).
During the operation, seven motorcycles were also seized for various offences.
The department added that similar operations would be conducted from time to time to ensure road users comply with traffic laws and to safeguard public safety.
