KUCHING: The Road Transport Department (RTD) has issued 260 notices and seized six motorcycles during a special enforcement operation along Jalan Datuk Patinggi Haji Abdul Rahman here last night (Jan 16).
Kuching RTD said the operation targeted motorcycles and the use of illegal high-intensity discharge (HID) headlights as part of ongoing enforcement efforts to curb traffic offences.
A total of 724 vehicles of various types were inspected during the roadblock.
“Checks uncovered multiple offences, including the use of HID headlights, riding or driving without a valid licence, expired road tax, and other technical violations involving vehicles.
“As a result, 260 notices of non-compliance were issued, while six motorcycles were seized after being found with expired road tax and no valid insurance coverage,” the department said in a statement.
The department reminded road users to comply with traffic laws at all times, ensure their driving licences, road tax and insurance are valid, and make sure their vehicles are roadworthy.
It added that enforcement operations would continue to improve road discipline and enhance safety for all road users.
