KUCHING: The RM200,000 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) project to upgrade drainage and pedestrian walkways near SK Satria Jaya, BDC, has been completed this month, ahead of its initial Dec 10 schedule.

Implemented by Kuching South City Council (MBKS) and carried out by Permata Kukuh Sdn. Bhd., the project involved the repair and upgrading of drainage facilities and walkways between SK Satria Jaya, BDC Lorong B2, and BDC Lorong B3A (behind the school).

Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, who witnessed the project’s completion, said the early completion reflected the efficiency, commitment, and teamwork of all parties involved.

He expressed appreciation to MBKS officers for their diligent supervision and effective project management, and to the contractor for their high-quality workmanship and timely delivery.

“This project resolves a long-standing issue for residents and the school community, where old and untidy drains frequently caused blockages and stagnant water.

“The upgraded drainage and walkways now ensure smoother water flow, cleaner surroundings, and safer access for students and pedestrians,” he said.

Yap added that the project is part of ongoing efforts under the Rural Transformation Programme to enhance public infrastructure and improve the living environment for the people of Kota Sentosa.

He also reaffirmed his commitment to continue working closely with MBKS and relevant agencies to identify and implement more community-focused infrastructure projects that prioritise residents’ well-being and safety.
