SARIKEI: A site visit to several completed Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) in Sarikei was conducted on Wednesday (Jan 21) to assess their implementation and impact.

The visit was carried out on behalf of federal Deputy Natural Resources and Environment Sustainability Minister, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, and led by Kapitan Ling Dien Yong together with the Representative Service Centre team.

“These RTP projects deliver direct benefits by improving educational facilities and rural infrastructure for the comfort and well-being of local communities,” said Huang in a press statement on Thursday (Jan 22).

He said among the key projects implemented were piling works and construction of a retaining wall at SMK Tinggi Sarikei, as well as a hall upgrade at SJK Su Kwong.

At SJK Sing Ming, works included roof repainting, refurbishment of the school gateway, and upgrading the electrical system from single phase to three phase.

SJK Kiew Mang received upgrades to its new school block, including installation of grills, tiling works, electrical meter installation, and repainting of the building.

“Meanwhile, access roads to Rumah Austin Chali were resurfaced, while SK Sungai Paoh saw the construction of a concrete road and seating facilities at the school hall,” he said.

Also present during the visit were an assistant engineer from Sarikei District Council, local councillors, as well as representatives from schools and longhouses involved.
