SARIKEI: The new block of the Rumah Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sarikei branch here stands as a symbol of unity and progress for the Dayak community.

According to Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environmental Sustainability, Datuk Seri Huang Tiong Sii, SDNU is not just an organisation, but the heartbeat of unity and the voice of the Dayak people’s struggle.

“It serves as a vital platform to empower the rights, dignity and socioeconomic development of our community,” he said.

He said this in his speech at the official opening ceremony of the new building held here today.

Huang, who is also the Sarikei Member of Parliament and Repok Assemblyman, called on SDNU Sarikei to continue playing its role as an agent of change and catalyst for unity and progress within the Dayak community.

Meanwhile, he also informed that SDNU Sarikei has received a total allocation of RM420,000 under the Rural Transformation Project (RTP) from 2018 to 2025 for the purpose of upgrading the infrastructure and facilities of the SDNU hall.

“This is proof that the Sarawak Government always listens and pays attention to the needs of the people.

“Make use of these facilities for the benefit of all, not just for organisational activities, but for the wider community as well,” he added.
