KUCHING: The Sarawak government is pressing on with its commitment to developing affordable and quality housing.
One such initiative currently underway is the Rumah Spektra Permata (RSP) project in Tabuan Melayu II, located within the Demak Laut constituency.
Launched in August 2023, the project forms part of the state’s broader strategy to provide safer, well-organised and comfortable housing solutions, particularly for low-income groups.
The development involves two blocks of housing, with the first set to be completed by the end of 2026, and the second by 2027.
“This project reflects the government’s sincere efforts to address the housing needs of the B40 community, particularly those who do not own any land or property.
“It is about more than just buildings – it is about creating a better future for families in Tabuan Melayu,” said Energy and Environmental Sustainability Deputy Minister, Datuk Dr Hazland Abang Hipni.
“The RSP Tabuan Melayu II project will feature affordable housing units designed with a focus on comfort, safety, and sustainability.
“Modern infrastructure such as a proper drainage system, a sewage treatment plant, street lighting, and a well-planned road network will be included to support a livable environment,” he said.
In addition to enhancing the quality of life for future residents, the project is expected to stimulate local economic growth especially in the construction, services and maintenance sectors.
Community engagement sessions have also begun, spearheaded by Dr Hazland, who is Demak Laut assemblyman, and the Housing Development Corporation (HDC), to ensure residents are involved and informed throughout the development process.
The government has urged all qualified individuals to apply and support the initiative for the collective benefit of the community.
