KUCHING: More than 2,500 participants took part in Run for Lives 6.0, which successfully raised RM133,000 for the Malaysian Red Crescent Society (MRCS) Kuching Branch.

The amount was raised through the generous support of sponsors, donors, associations, corporate organisations, volunteers and members of the public.

The funds will support the MRCS Kuching Branch in carrying out its core services.

These include Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and Automated External Defibrillator (AED) awareness courses, first aid training programmes, ambulance and first aid services, as well as welfare and emergency relief assistance for individuals and communities in need.

The event was officiated by Kota Sentosa assemblyman Wilfred Yap, representing Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Dr Sim Kui Hian, at the Kuching South City Council (MBKS) complex this morning (June 21).

Deputy Chairman of the Malaysian Red Crescent Society Kuching Branch Dr Chou Chii Ming expressed his appreciation to Yap for officiating at the event, as well as to sponsors, donors, corporate organisations, partners, participants, volunteers and members of the public for their contributions and support.

“The success of Run to Save Lives 6.0 was made possible through the collective efforts of all parties.

“The participation of more than 2,500 people and the successful collection of RM133,000 demonstrate that the spirit of humanity and concern for the community remain strong.

“Every contribution, sponsorship and participation will help the society continue providing essential services, including first aid training, ambulance services, blood donor recruitment and welfare assistance to those in need,” he said.

He also announced that Run for Lives 7.0 will be held on June 20 next year.
