MIRI: A portable ultrasound scan machine is now available at the remote Long Jekitan Health Clinic, thanks to the generosity of Mulu assemblyman Dato’ Gerawat Gala.
He donated the much needed equipment which costs RM70,000 for the use of health personnel at the rural health clinic located in Ulu Baram.
The clinic, manned by 11 personnel, provides outpatient medical care services, maternal health care services, child health care services plus village health services to surrounding areas like Long Mekaba, Ba Tao, Long Bee, Long Tikan and Ba Purau.
The rural clinic caters to around 640 patients per month or approximately 32 patients per day.
Long Jekitan Health Clinic has electricity supplied by a diesel-powered generator (genset) for nine hours a day from 12pm to 4pm and from 6pm to 11pm.
Nearby Long Jekitan village which is less than 50 metres away is supplied 24-hours power via the Sarawak Alternative Rural Electrification Scheme (SARES).
